Rector’s Update 13/10/2025
Firstly, a big thank you to everyone who donated food or money to the West Berks Foodbank at Harvest. Across the Benefice, we celebrated and gave thanks for the harvest and were able to share a little of what we all have to help those in need – thank you.
The current advertisement for a Team Vicar runs until this coming weekend. We still are waiting for a response so please do be praying hard that someone applies soon. We will continue to pray together for this, and our next Prayer Meetings are planned for Saturday 25th October and Saturday 29th November. Both Prayer times run from 9am to 10am with coffee and croissants available from 8.50am. It’s been good to see people come to these prayer meetings but there is room for more. The appointment of a new person will make such a difference to all the churches in the Benefice so please do consider coming along to pray.
In the coming weeks we have some extra events. On Friday 31st October (5pm-6.30pm) our annual Light Party for primary age children (accompanied by an adult) will take place a St Peter’s. This is an opportunity to celebrate the light of Christ whilst so many are celebrating darkness instead. If you can help out on the night in any way, please contact Tasha Howlett tasha_howlett@btinternet.com.
Then on Sunday 2nd November at 3pm we hold our Annual Memorial and Thanksgiving Service at St Denys’ Church. This is an opportunity for all who have lost a loved one to come together for a short service as we remember and give thanks for their lives.
On Thursday (16th October) we are starting a new Life Group (Home Group). This will meet fortnightly at All Saints’ Church – if you are interested in joining or just finding out more contact Peter Waters pwaters50@hotmail.co.uk.
Also, this Thursday (16th) at 7.30pm the October Filling Station meeting takes place at Hampstead Norreys Village Hall. Filling station is a monthly gathering of Christians from smaller rural churches in this area for a time of informal worship, teaching and prayer ministry. This month our own Ron Timms will be speaking – all are welcome.
Have a good week.
Steve
