Rector’s Update 01/09/2025
Today, 1st September, is the start of meteorological autumn and it does feel as though the seasons are on the turn! We’ve enjoyed some beautiful summer days but soon the schools return for a new school year and in our church life we also return to the season of some important annual events such as Harvest and Remembrance.
Next Sunday (7th) we have our twice yearly Inter-Congregational Tea from 3.30pm to 5pm at All Saints’ Church. This is an opportunity to come together across the Benefice and get to know those who worship in other places. Do come if you can – everybody is most welcome.
As I am sure you know David Sammon died a couple of weeks ago. David had been a long-standing member of the Bucklebury Churches and faithfully served as a Licensed Lay Minister (as well as in many other roles). He moved away to a care home earlier this year, but it was only a few months ago in May that he came back so that we could say goodbye and celebrate his ministry with us. His funeral is at St Mary’s Bucklebury on Monday 8th September at 1.30pm and full details are in the weekly e-Newsletter sent out by the church office.
In addition to our usual Sunday services there are some key dates coming up in the next few weeks:
7th September 6.30pm Christ in the Quiet at St Peter’s Church
9th September 9.30am Small Saints toddler group returns at All Saints’ Church
14th September 6pm Evening Prayer at St Denys’ Church
20th September 11am to 1pm Plant swap/sale at St Denys’ Church
21st September 6.30pm Evening Celebration with Mark Melluish at All Saints’ Church
5th October Harvest Thanksgiving at all morning services
Have a good week.
Steve
