Rector’s Update 26/01/26
I hope you are well and managing this gloomy time of year. To help cheer us up a bit, we will be holding an Inter- Congregational Tea on Sunday (1st Feb) from 3pm – 5pm at All Saints’ Church. This is an opportunity for people from the different churches in the Benefice to come together and meet up with friends old and new alike. Do come if you can.
The following weekend St Denys’ are hosting their now annual Snowdrop Saturday on 7th February from 11am – 1.30pm. The snowdrops are already beginning to look amazing but do come along and enjoy them with others along with coffee/tea and cake.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (18th February). At most of yesterday’s services we introduced the special booklet that we will be encouraging people to use during Lent – these will be available in churches on Sunday 8th and 15th but if you want one direct before then, please contact me or the Church Office. These booklets, produced by the Church of England, are to help us to develop Life giving habits and it would be really encouraging if, whichever church we normally attend, we can travel this road together. If you are able to make a donation of £2 towards the cost of the booklets that would be appreciated but no one should feel that they have to.
This Sunday we will hear about the Presentation of Christ in the Temple (sometimes known as Candlemas). The reading from Luke’s gospel ends by telling us that Jesus grew and became strong, filled with wisdom and the favour of God was upon him. Let’s pray that we too will grow in wisdom and know God’s favour in our lives.
With my love
Steve
