Funerals

candlesThe death of a loved one is always a difficult time. As a church, we aim to support families before and after the service.

If you would like to consider one of our churches for a funeral, or wish to engage one of the ministers in leading a funeral or memorial service in church or at the crematorium, please contact the church office for advice.

Under normal circumstances it is better to contact a funeral director in the first instance. They will then work with the church office and minister to arrange a suitable funeral date and other arrangements. One of the ministry team will then meet with the family to make arrangements for the service.

If you would like guidance on a funeral service, the Church of England website provides much useful information.

Coronavirus restrictions mean that congregations are currently strictly limited. The maximum allowed is 30 people at a funeral (this does not include those working at the service) but this could be lower, depending on the size of the building and social distancing necessary between family groups. For services such as interment of ashes, the number permitted to attend is six.
